Let The Word Do the Work
"One word away! One word away! The power of life and death is in what you say." These are the opening words to the song, "Let the Word Do the Work," written by the popular gospel psalmist, Donald Lawrence. His thesis is derived from a loose translation of Proverbs 18:21. One could give valid argument to the theological applicability of this Proverb to the other lines of the song. Yet, there remains one immutable fact: The word we speak has power!
There are no words more powerful than the Scripture, which the Apostle Paul affirms, is fully and completely God-breathed (II Timothy 3:16). As such, the words of the Word should be foremost in our speech. We must know the Word in order to know its power. That is why I am calling the Arlington Family to the E100 Challenge. The Essential 100 Challenge (E100) is an exciting new way to read through the Bible and gain a more complete understanding of the Scripture. Over the next 50 weeks, we will read two carefully selected short passages - 50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament until we have read through the entire Bible. I will teach and preach from one of the passages each Sunday and on some First Wednesdays.
The program officially begins on January 8, 2012. Already, more than 100 people have signed our E100 wall! Praise the Lord! What about you? Have you signed the wall? I am looking for at least 400 more or our church family, including our children who are able, to get on board and take the E100 Challenge. Even if you no longer live in the area you can still access the information and sign our wall online. Come on with me! Let's get in the Scriptures in 2012! Then, "Let the Word Do the Work!"
